Matcha Cat is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with these terms. It's made by Oliver Encabo, trading as Taxpayer Labs.

Who your cat is

Your cat, and the cat-girl or cat-boy it becomes, is a fictional character. Its thoughts, letters, diary pages and replies are written by an AI model (OpenAI's), from what you've told it. It is not a person, it can't feel the way people do, and it can be wrong. It isn't a doctor, a counsellor or an emergency service, and nothing it says is advice. For the big things, talk to the people in your life.

The AI is used only if you agree, and you can turn it off any time in Settings › AI and your data. The rest of the game works either way.

Not a crisis service

If you might hurt yourself or someone else, or someone is hurting you, please reach a person now: in the US and Canada call or text 988; in the UK and Ireland call Samaritans on 116 123; in Australia call Lifeline on 13 11 14; in New Zealand call or text 1737; anywhere else, find a line at findahelpline.com, or call your local emergency number. How the game responds is on the support page.

Age

Matcha Cat is for ages 13 and up.

Using it well

Please don't use Matcha Cat to try to make the AI produce harmful content, to get around its daily limits, or to overload its server. We may limit requests from a device that does.

Your data

See the privacy policy. Everything your cat remembers stays on your iPhone; Settings › Start over deletes it.
